Bundaberg Flood Relief Emergency Camp Accommodation: Providing Immediate Shelter & Support.


In response to the devastating Bundaberg floods of February 2013, Australian Temporary Structures was enlisted to establish an emergency relief camp capable of housing 300 displaced individuals. The rapid deployment emergency camp accommodation was a fully functional, temporary accommodation facility that was critical in ensuring safety, comfort, and essential services for those affected by the disaster.

  • Air-Conditioned Sleeping Quarters – Provided climate-controlled, safe, and comfortable accommodation for displaced residents.

  • External Amenities Block – Featured showers, toilets, and hygiene facilities, ensuring adequate sanitation for all camp occupants.

  • Laundry Facilities – Equipped with washing and drying stations to help maintain hygiene and cleanliness.

  • ‘Kids Space’ Activity Room – A dedicated space for children’s recreation and emotional support, offering normalcy and relief for families.

  • Mess Hall – Large-scale dining facility to serve meals and offer communal gathering spaces for residents.

  • Food Storage Facility & Service Areas – Designed to store and distribute food efficiently, ensuring residents received nutritious meals during their stay.

  • Fully Fitted Kitchen – Complete with cooking appliances, preparation areas, and safety equipment to support continuous meal service.

  • Mobile Cool Rooms – Maintained perishable food storage, ensuring food safety and quality in extreme conditions.

 

Emergency Camp Accommodation Project Success


The Bundaberg Flood Relief Emergency Camp Project provided immediate, organised, and sustainable shelter for 300 displaced residents, ensuring that basic needs were met efficiently while offering comfort and support during a time of crisis.


This project underscores the rapid response and adaptability of ATS modular structures, proving their effectiveness in emergency disaster relief, temporary housing, and large-scale crisis response.
