When disaster strikes, it takes resilience, determination, and community support to rebuild. For Flagstaff Group, an organisation dedicated to providing life skills and employment opportunities for people with disabilities, the Boxing Day 2024 fire at their Unanderra facility was a significant challenge.
The Flagstaff Group Mission
As a registered NDIS provider, Flagstaff Group fosters an inclusive environment, empowering individuals with disabilities through employment and community programs. Their businesses, including the Flagstaff Commercial Laundry and Fine Foods social enterprises, play a crucial role in providing opportunities and support.
Rebuilding Resilience After The Fire Incident
On Boxing Day 2024, a devastating fire broke out at Flagstaff’s 254 Nolan Street site. Thankfully, no one was on the premises, and there were no injuries. However, the fire caused extensive damage to the laundry’s packing and despatch area, as well as the Fine Foods social enterprises. The loss of critical infrastructure posed a major disruption to Flagstaff’s operations and its ability to serve the community.
Swift Recovery & Temporary Solutions
Rather than allowing the disaster to derail their mission, Flagstaff acted quickly. Their Business Continuity Plan enabled them to maintain operations by utilising alternative laundry facilities and seeking immediate solutions to restore their packing and despatch area.
Australian Temporary Structures was engaged to provide a rapid and efficient temporary building solution. Within weeks, a fully functional temporary structure was erected next to the main laundry building, ensuring Flagstaff could resume services and support their clients without prolonged disruption.
We recently engaged Australian Temporary Structures and were thoroughly impressed by the exceptional service they provided. From the start, Karin and the team were highly responsive, demonstrating a clear understanding of our needs and offering practical, solution-focused advice. Despite the tight timeline, they delivered a high-quality structure that was perfectly fit for purpose. Their professionalism, flexibility, and ability to problem-solve ensured a smooth and efficient process. I would not hesitate to recommend Australian Temporary Structures to anyone in need of reliable and timely solutions.
